Where Your Surgery Will be Performed
A forehead lift is generally done in a surgeon’s office-based facility or an outpatient surgery center. Yet, it is rarely done in the hospital. Anesthesia Used for the Procedure
A large amount of forehead lifts are performed under local anesthesia combined with a sedative to make you dozy. You’ll be awake but relaxed, and although you may feel some heave and mild discomfort, your forehead will be insensible to pain. Some surgeons prefer to use general anesthesia, in this case you’ll sleep through the whole operation. Procedure description: The procedure is done on an outpatient base under general anesthesia. Several small incisions are placed in the hairline. The operation is done with a use of endoscope (a narrow hollow instrument with a fiber optic light source and camera) through which the procedure is performed with small special instruments. The forehead skin is lifted and repositioned. The muscles that cause frown lines are weakened. Recuperation and healing: The patient returnes home with head wrapped in bandages which are usually removed on the first or second day after surgery. Original discomfort is controlled with oral medication. Straples or sutures are removed within 10 days. Nearly all swelling and bruising is gone in 7-10 days. Insuarance guidelines: This procedure is measured as cosmetic and consequently is not covered by insurance. The particular risks and the appropriateness of this procedure for a certain individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. Every surgical procedure has some degree of risk. Slight complications that do not affect the outcome crop up occasionally, more important complications are unusual. Other options: Additional procedures that may improve the result are: lower and/or upper eyelid lift, face lift, or other facial procedures or implants.
